It was a lonely, cold day in my life. The world was gray and so was I. Outside, it was
below freezing, and snow was descending from the sky. In my apartment, I turned on my
television. A VISION OF BEAUTY appeared on my screen. It was a program from
a land called Venezuela. The program was Maite Delgado. On myscreen were 4
beautiful girls. They were: Yorgelys Delgado, Roxana Chacon, Tyanny Santos, &
Estefania Lopez. I knew nothing of them, but in the chill of my day I knew I had to live
in the land these girls came from. I had performed in Europe many times, and had lived
once in Brasil. This day in my life I knew God wanted me to live in this land, Venezuela.
My experience in Brasil had shown me the beauty of life in South America.You taste
love, passion, emotion, and smiles with each breath. This is the life in all countries in
South America. This is the way I want to live.
America in my music.
We all have dreams--of true love—happiness & all the good things in life. Sometimes
our hearts, and dreams, are broken. These are the universal experiences for all people in
our world. I have tasted both love and heartbreak. Music is our international language.
When someone, somewhere, in our world listens to my song ‘EN VENEZUELA’, I hope
they can feel the longing I felt in my heart the frigid, lonely night I sat alone and wrote
this song. When they hear ‘LAS CUATRO MUNECAS’, Ihope they see the vision of
beauty that is Venezuela. When they hear ‘RIO DE JANEIRO’, I hope they taste the
coconuts on the beach like I did in Copacobana. When they hear “MI ULTIMO AMOR’,
I hope it can help them to know there is someone who wonders why they lost the love of
their life. I hope this for the listeners of all my songs. I could write a million words. I
will let the music speak for itself. I am here with my hand reaching out to you. Take it—
